Bhopali Chicken Rezala

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts
  • 4 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 big bunches of coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup mint
  • 4 green chilies
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 6 green cardamoms
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 5-6 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 kg chicken
  • 1 heaped tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp. lime juice
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 2 tbsp + 1 tbsp. ghee

Method

  • Soak cashew nuts in warm water.
  • Heat 2 tbsp, of oil add sliced onion, fry till brown. Add to the blender, also add coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies and cashew nuts, bit of water. Puree into smooth paste.
  • Now in the same pan, heat ghee and oil add the whole spices and the chicken, saute for 6-7 minutes. Add dry spice powders. Mix well.
  • Add the green masala paste. Saute for 3-4 minutes. Then add salt, lime juice and 1/2 cup of water. Put the lid on, simmer till cooked.
