Dark Chocolate & Cherry Cake


  • 225g plain flour
  • 2tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp instant coffee granules
  • 75g coco powder
  • 375 ml hot water
  • 75g oil
  • 300g sugar
  • 1 &1/2 tsp. vinegar

    For the chocolate sauce to spread on top:

  • 60 ml cold water
  • 75g butter
  • 60g sugar
  • 2 tbsp coco powder
  • 2 tsp. instant coffee granules
  • 100g chopped dark chocolate


  • Preheat the oven at 180 degrees. Line a baking tray with baking parchment.
  • To prepare the cake, mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl. Mix all the wet ingredients in another bowl, whisk them properly, and then add gradually while mixing to the bowl of dry ingredients. Pour the batter in the baking tray and bake for 35 minutes.
  • For the sauce:

    • Add all the ingredients in a saucepan and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes till everything comes together. Let rest for a minimum of fifteen minutes before pouring it on top of the cooled cake. For more delight, spread some raspberries or cherries or strawberries on top.
