Daal-Bafla

Ingredients

    For the baaflas:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • pinch of salt
  • water to knead
  • oil to fry

    For the daal:

  • 1 tsp. chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. chopped green chili
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 small tomato chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. jeera
  • 2-3 whole red chilies
  • 1 tbsp of fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • juice of half lime
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup of cooked daal
  • 2 tsp. of ghee
  • 1 tbsp. of oil

Method

    For the baaflas:

    • Add flour, salt to a bowl and Knead it into a Dough to medium tough consistency, make round cakes of it.
    • Put water to boil, add the prepared rounds and let it boil till they start floating on top. Then take them out on a kitchen towel.
    • Then heat oil in a wok fry the boiled baaflas till golden brown outside frying gives a crunch to the baaflas.

    For the daal:

    • Heat oil in a pan, add jeera, allow it to crackle.
    • Add chopped ginger and garlic, sauté till starts to appear golden. Add whole red chilies.
    • Add onion sauté till golden.
    • Add green chili, and cooked daal, mix well. Also add chopped tomatoes, simmer for 2-4 minutes and switch it off. Stir in some lemon juice and sprinkle chopped coriander. Pour over lots of ghee.
    • To eat just like daal baati, break the baaflas and add to the daal. Enjoy
