Chole
Ingredients
chole (soaked overnight) 1 cup, boiled with salt
big onion, ground 1
tomatoes, pureed 2
turmeric powder ½ tsp.
coriander powder 1 tsp.
red chili powder 1 tsp.
garam masala powder 1tsp.
amchur powder
lemon juice 1 tsp.
sunflower oil 2 tbsp
salt to taste
garam masala paste
green cardamom 2
black cardamom 1
cinnamon stick ½
black peppercorns 4-5
cloves 2
bay leaf 1 small
cumin seeds 1 tsp.
dry red chili ½
ginger 1/2 inch
garlic 4-5 cloves
Method
Add all the ingredients in a blender, along with a bit of water and blend till smooth. Heat oil in a wok, add jeera.
Then add the onions and saute at low heat till golden brown.
Add 1/4 cup of water to the wok, mix, then add garam masala paste, haldi, dhaniya and lal mirch powder mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.
Now add tomatoes, season them and cook till tomatoes are softer.
Add the boiled chole and one cup of water. Season it properly. Put a lid on, and simmer for 4-5 minutes.
After it’s cooked, mash some chole within the curry, this will add on to the taste. Drizzle over the lime juice.
Serve it hot with some steamed rice, hot rotis or papad.
